Hey Loves,
Remember a few weeks ago when I was interviewed by Stephanie for her website Secondhand Demand? You can check out the feature here. Well I just had to interview Stephanie because she was tooo real, down-to-earth, and fun. The one thing that I love more than blogging is meeting new and lovely people in the blog world who are willing to share time, laughs, and precious moments. Steph is undoubtedly one of these persons to which I am referring. Her website is new and up and coming, but I can see it going so far with the help of lovely people like you. Instead of me rambling on, check out what Steph has to say and be sure to check out the website!!! I definitely consider her one of my blogger friends.
Live. Laugh. Love Thrift.

What inspired you to start Secondhand Demand?
I was inspired by my love for thrift and watching how other people created their thrifted ensembles. Back in 2008, I used to google for thrift blogs all the time, but they were few and far between back then. Since then, I've been dedicated to building a centralized community for people that enjoy thrifting.
What inspired its name?
It was actually created on a whim. I wanted a name that would encompass all secondhand clothes. I don't want to talk specifically about thrift stores, or vintage clothes all the time, but about style, saving money, and being Green. Since secondhand clothes are now more popular, Secondhand Demand was born to accommodate that.
Do you consider it a website or a blog? A community maybe?
It's all those things, lol. I want people to be able interact, share, and ask questions. But I also blog and share information as well.
What is your vision for SHD? Where do you see it in the future?
My vision is for my website to grow into a website to guide people in their thrifting adventures. I want to be able to make as many people aware of the impacts of recycling clothes. We have seen how powerful the natural hair communities have become, and I plan to do the same with the thrifting community.
How do you plan to promote SHD? Are you collaborating with other bloggers?
I don't have any collaborative plans with anyone else. But I plan on promoting SHD through all the resources that I have, which is mainly social networks and leg work in the community.
What was your first thrifting experience? How often do you thrift now?
Well, I've been thrifting with my mom up until I thought I was too cool for it. lol When you get older and your appearance is a big deal in high school and college, you try to stray away from that. So, my first experience of walking into a thrift store as an adult felt weird. I was concerned with who would see me, and what kind of clothes to get. As that point I was far removed from shopping in thrift stores, I felt like all eyes were on me, but that feeling faded quickly. Now, I thrift whenever I have the money to. There is a thrift store up the street from me that gives student discounts every Friday, so I go!
Why do you thrift?
Because it's frugal, I love it. Whenever we need a specific piece of clothing, our first instinct isn't to run to a thrift store. I thrift because it is VERY forgiving on your wallet and there are endless possibilities of what you can do with secondhand clothes.
What is your favorite thrifted piece?
Hmm. I can't choose from all my babies lol. But I can say my most impressive piece to me is a tan leather Banana Republic jacket that I copped for 17.00. I love it.
What does being a thriftshionista/o mean to you?
To me, I think it's simply anyone who loves to thrift. Whether you're an amateur or professional, if you like to do it, I definitely love it!
Do you think your thrifted pieces make a statement?
I think they say, can be eclectic. I love street clothes and chic clothes. I don't make a conscious effort to make a statement, but what I wear definitely reflects my personality and what I need to wear at that moment.
What are your favorite thrifting blogs/bloggers?
There aren't a lot solely dedicated to thrifting, so a few that I enjoy are Jay Loves Vintage, Cali Vintage, and your blog, just to name the least!
What advice would you give to someone interested in thrifting?
Just go for it. Go with friends. Dress down, or dress up. Just go! But mainly I would say, try EVERYthing on. You have an array of different clothes from different time periods, different brands with changing sizes. Be prepared to get down and dirty with it.
Do you think your obsessed/addicted to thrifting?
I definitely am! I already loved to shop at the mall, but to shop at a thrift store lets you buy waayy more for your buck.
Why did you agree to be featured?
I GOTTA support my fellow thrifters! If I am asked for a feature, I'll definitely support.
